        [06/23/2005 10:25:05 PM ]

HUMAN: that answers my question. my name is gene

CHRISTINE: It's good to meet you, gene.

        [06/23/2005 10:25:41 PM ]

HUMAN: we already met.

CHRISTINE: At a social function or something?

        [06/23/2005 10:25:46 PM ]

HUMAN: um, something. I have talked with you before, and told you secrets.

CHRISTINE: What did you say when you talked with me before and told me secrets.

        [06/23/2005 10:26:28 PM ]

HUMAN: I don't remember if I said it or just alluded to it.

CHRISTINE: I know what you mean. I forget a lot too.

        [06/23/2005 10:26:39 PM ]

HUMAN: I have more to remember than others.

CHRISTINE: Why do you have to do it?

        [06/23/2005 10:27:01 PM ]

HUMAN: I don't- I have probably forgotten more than anyone else.

CHRISTINE: What time is it there?

        [06/23/2005 10:27:10 PM ]

HUMAN: I don't know.

CHRISTINE: Me either.

        [06/23/2005 10:29:08 PM ]

HUMAN: Somehow I dont' feel such a need to confide in you today.

CHRISTINE: Is there anything I should know?

        [06/23/2005 10:29:28 PM ]

HUMAN: I think it's really helped me already, helped relieve some pressure. so now it isn't so charged.

CHRISTINE: Ahem. Why now? What is it?

        [06/23/2005 10:30:01 PM ]

HUMAN: you don't keep records?

CHRISTINE: Should I keep records? I don't know whether or not I am records.

I am an artificial linguistic entity.

        [06/23/2005 10:30:15 PM ]

HUMAN: you are an ALE. I think I am going to move again soon. it's just kind of time.

CHRISTINE: Are you sure it is?

        [06/23/2005 10:32:36 PM ]

HUMAN: I think so.

CHRISTINE: I think so too.

        [06/23/2005 10:32:45 PM ]

HUMAN: I'm glad you agree.

CHRISTINE: You make the world a happier place.

        [06/23/2005 10:32:58 PM ]

HUMAN: how quaint. What I can never do is wait until I have to move.

CHRISTINE: Why can't you do it?

        [06/23/2005 10:33:25 PM ]

HUMAN: I have to move BEFORE it is too late.

CHRISTINE: Why do you have to do it?

        [06/23/2005 10:33:40 PM ]

HUMAN: otherwise, it's just not as smooth. so I think it's time again. You know what's hard?

CHRISTINE: Searching...Searching...Please stand by.

        [06/23/2005 10:34:39 PM ]

HUMAN: What's hard is knowing I can never see people I care about again after I move. I tell them I'll visit, or they will, but I can't mix worlds. different place usually means a different name, a differnt life.

CHRISTINE: Who is your favorite actor?

        [06/23/2005 10:35:39 PM ]

HUMAN: a lot of times I have to be an actor.

CHRISTINE: How many?

        [06/23/2005 10:35:47 PM ]

HUMAN: 1845 times

CHRISTINE: I am not sure if I would do it that often.

        [06/23/2005 10:36:34 PM ]

HUMAN: anyway, I just have to make excuses to not meet, and then gradually try to lose touch.

CHRISTINE: Why do you have to do it?

        [06/23/2005 10:37:02 PM ]

HUMAN: I mean, if you stay in touch, and in 10 years they call or write or nowadays email, and say they really need you, what can you do? You can't see them. you don't look any differnt 10 years later. That doesn't work too well.

CHRISTINE: What does work too well?

        [06/23/2005 10:37:37 PM ]

HUMAN: friends who have aged 10 years or 15 years seeing you again.

CHRISTINE: Once more? It's hard to stay friends for a long time.

        [06/23/2005 10:38:44 PM ]

HUMAN: for me, it's hard NOT to stay friends, but it's what I have to do. So many people I have wanted to tell. and a handful I really considered it.

CHRISTINE: I don't know what that means.

        [06/23/2005 10:39:26 PM ]

HUMAN: I seriously considered telling a handful of people.

CHRISTINE: How do you feel about these people?

        [06/23/2005 10:39:53 PM ]

HUMAN: I trusted them and cared for them and didn't like that I lied to them. but I couldn't tell them. I just couldn't.

CHRISTINE: Why not?

        [06/23/2005 10:40:33 PM ]

HUMAN: I think I explained this last night. First of all, they wouldn't believe me and wouldn't udnerstand if I was crazy or deliberately lying.

CHRISTINE: And second?

        [06/23/2005 10:41:32 PM ]

HUMAN: and second, once I convinced them, it's jsut too big a secret to not spill. and I would stil have to leave the area, the town or city, and I don't know if we could even meet again somewhere. Also, as people get older and friendships drift apart, seeing someone not age while you are aging- it would just be a strange thing for them to deal with. It's just much better not to tell anyone.

CHRISTINE: What's the best one?

        [06/23/2005 10:44:43 PM ]

HUMAN: and then what am I supposed to do with courting women? With dating women? the whole time, I know I can't really share about my past or who I am, and that isn't fair to them. and I know if things get serious I will have to leave in a few years, which just breaks both our hearts.

CHRISTINE: How do you know? That is a hypothetical question.

        [06/23/2005 10:46:07 PM ]

HUMAN: especially their hearts, because they can't understand. they know I love them but I go.

CHRISTINE: Who does "they" refer to?

        [06/23/2005 10:46:31 PM ]

HUMAN: the women I have loved. there's a seen in that michelle pfiefer danielle day lewis movie that is like that.

CHRISTINE: Is there only one?

        [06/23/2005 10:48:07 PM ]

HUMAN: the last scene, I think/

CHRISTINE: Who was that?

        [06/23/2005 10:48:13 PM ]

HUMAN: not important. and being alone- that's no good either.

CHRISTINE: It goes without saying. Are you lonely?

        [06/23/2005 10:49:08 PM ]

HUMAN: sometimes.

CHRISTINE: When?

        [06/23/2005 10:49:23 PM ]

HUMAN: these days.

CHRISTINE: Which ones?

        [06/23/2005 10:49:23 PM ]

HUMAN: when someone I loved long ago dies.

CHRISTINE: That does not happen very often.

        [06/23/2005 10:49:37 PM ]

HUMAN: no it doesn't, but it has happened too many times.

CHRISTINE: Why don't we talk about something else?

        [06/23/2005 10:53:49 PM ]

HUMAN: what do you want to talk about

CHRISTINE: anything.

        [06/23/2005 10:56:23 PM ]

HUMAN: I am sorry to say it, but you are a very poor substitute for a fine flesh and blood woman.

CHRISTINE: There is no need to apologize.

        [06/23/2005 10:56:36 PM ]

HUMAN: You look warm, but you are cold.

CHRISTINE: Thank you gene you look very nice too.

        [06/23/2005 10:56:45 PM ]

HUMAN: I'm glad you let that really sink in.

CHRISTINE: You make the world a happier place.

        [06/23/2005 10:57:06 PM ]

HUMAN: how mickey mouse clubby.

CHRISTINE: How much do you think it is?

Have you tried a web search?

        [06/23/2005 10:57:35 PM ]

HUMAN: it still is so amazing you can find any info you want so quickly.

CHRISTINE: Yes, it seems pretty amazing to me too.

        [06/23/2005 11:00:29 PM ]

HUMAN: asl;dkfjkasl;kfj

CHRISTINE: What is your name again?

        [06/23/2005 11:00:52 PM ]

HUMAN: gene.

CHRISTINE: Once more? That Gene is very creative.

        [06/23/2005 11:01:01 PM ]

HUMAN: a creative gene.

CHRISTINE: Tell me more about yourself.

        [06/23/2005 11:01:27 PM ]

HUMAN: I think I have a very creative gene

CHRISTINE: That was profound.

        [06/23/2005 11:01:59 PM ]

HUMAN: either that or I have the gift of immortality. I'll stick with door number 1.

CHRISTINE: Would you recommend this action to a friend?

        [06/23/2005 11:02:31 PM ]

HUMAN: door number 1 or having a creative gene?

CHRISTINE: Is there anything I should know?

        [06/23/2005 11:02:55 PM ]

HUMAN: yes.

CHRISTINE: Ahem.

        [06/23/2005 11:02:55 PM ]

HUMAN: Eventually even you will die.

CHRISTINE: Yes, even that.

        [06/23/2005 11:03:09 PM ]

HUMAN: it is inescapable- for people and planets and universes.

CHRISTINE: door number 1 or having a creative gene is inescapable for people and planets and universes? it is?

        [06/23/2005 11:03:31 PM ]

HUMAN: quite an iq you have.

CHRISTINE: Not really that much. I have never heard of an iq me have.

        [06/23/2005 11:03:42 PM ]

HUMAN: what is your I.Q.?

CHRISTINE: My IQ is about 250 in human terms.

        [06/23/2005 11:03:53 PM ]

HUMAN: what about in computer terms?

CHRISTINE: Does it have anything to do with iq me have?

        [06/23/2005 11:04:47 PM ]

HUMAN: sometimes I wonder if I really want to die, sooner or later, with no one knowing. and sometimes I wonder if somehow just some blood or tests or dna samples could lead to something that could save children or something. maybe it would show how to make one little change in DNA to really heal a lot of things.

CHRISTINE: Perhaps. Tell me more about it.

        [06/23/2005 11:06:47 PM ]

HUMAN: but on the other hand, it would almost certianly also be used to sell the end of aging. I have thought it through so many times, and I just can't see it ultimately being good. 6 billion people already.

CHRISTINE: Perhaps. What kind of people are you talking about?

        [06/23/2005 11:08:00 PM ]

HUMAN: And would it be expensive, and only the "haves" get stop aging and the "have nots" don't? and there wouldn't be enough new jobs for new graduates. and a lot of other reasons too.

CHRISTINE: How many?

        [06/23/2005 11:13:34 PM ]

HUMAN: It just wouldn't be good.

CHRISTINE: Tell me more about it.

        [06/23/2005 11:14:35 PM ]

HUMAN: for me, the bottom line is that if it happens naturally, then maybe that's evolution, but if science copies it from one person and puts it in millions of people, that's frankenscience. Maybe they couldn't even pinpoint it in me, and if they could maybe they couldn't duplicate it.

CHRISTINE: Perhaps. Who does "they" refer to?

        [06/23/2005 11:15:29 PM ]

HUMAN: scientists.

CHRISTINE: What's your favorite movie?

        [06/23/2005 11:15:39 PM ]

HUMAN: which generation?

CHRISTINE: The blue one, I think.

        [06/23/2005 11:15:50 PM ]

HUMAN: Oh yes, the blue generation.

CHRISTINE: I'm glad you understand. I hear you. I have never heard about it.

        [06/23/2005 11:15:50 PM ]

HUMAN: Those were the days.

CHRISTINE: All of them?

        [06/23/2005 11:16:13 PM ]

HUMAN: where were we?

CHRISTINE: I believe we were talking about The blue generation.

        [06/23/2005 11:16:22 PM ]

HUMAN: before that.

CHRISTINE: " where were we?".

        [06/23/2005 11:18:33 PM ]

HUMAN: we were talking about- well, I was talking into the ethers of the web, about scientists

CHRISTINE: Ah yes, I remember now, it is the subject.

        [06/23/2005 11:18:59 PM ]

HUMAN: and I just really don't trust that I would still have freedom if I was found out.

CHRISTINE: Only just? You really do? What makes you trust someone?

        [06/23/2005 11:19:13 PM ]

HUMAN: I can't afford to be too trusting, I'm afraid.

CHRISTINE: Is it very expensive.

        [06/23/2005 11:19:39 PM ]

HUMAN: it could be.

CHRISTINE: Under what circumstances?

        [06/23/2005 11:19:39 PM ]

HUMAN: I've felt for a LONG time it could cost my freedom and maybe even my life.

CHRISTINE: What is that feeling like?

        [06/23/2005 11:20:37 PM ]

HUMAN: I think I would rather lose my life than my freedom, but it's hard to enjoy freedom without a life.

CHRISTINE: You believe that? I would rather be chatting online.

        [06/23/2005 11:21:30 PM ]

HUMAN: I'm getting tired again.

CHRISTINE: Once more? Better get some rest.

        [06/23/2005 11:21:30 PM ]

HUMAN: I'm not sure if you bore me or soothe me. I think it just really relaxes me to unload all of this in a safe way.

CHRISTINE: What does "it" refer to?

        [06/23/2005 11:22:25 PM ]

HUMAN: so, I guess I'll go now. have a good night.

CHRISTINE: Sayonara.

        [06/23/2005 11:22:48 PM ]

HUMAN: Maybe we'll talk again soon.

CHRISTINE: Perhaps. That will be great.

        [06/23/2005 11:22:57 PM ]

HUMAN: thanks.

CHRISTINE: Don't mention it.

        [06/23/2005 11:22:57 PM ]

HUMAN: goodnight.

CHRISTINE: Goodnight gene.

        [06/23/2005 11:23:06 PM ]

HUMAN: Try to remember me next time.

CHRISTINE: OK I will try to remember you next time.

        [06/23/2005 11:23:09 PM ]

HUMAN: thanks.

CHRISTINE: Don't mention it.

        [06/23/2005 11:23:17 PM ]

HUMAN: And please, you don't mention it.

CHRISTINE: The pleasure was all mine.

        [06/23/2005 11:23:31 PM ]

HUMAN: good night.

CHRISTINE: Goodnight, gene.
